This is my first job interview ever. I had a high school/college job all through school, but I didn’t really have to interview for it. It was a fast food job that turned into a management position, but they hired me on the spot and put me on the schedule that same day, so I have no real background in interviewing. Upon graduation, I decided that I wanted to take time off to be at home with my newborn daughter (she was born 6 months before I graduated college) and for the last 4 years, I have been a stay at home mom. There has been a 4 year gap between my graduation date and now….so I’m very nervous. I’ve done plenty of research about the unit in which the job position is in. I’ve read the entire Youth Service policy and I did accrue some internship hours in the Youth Service Field, but I just don’t know what to expect. Any advice or tips.
Thank you Gerald B. I know that you should always have questions for a job that you are interviewing for, so I already have two in mind that I am going/plan to ask. I plan on sending a thank you letter also. All of these tips are great advice.
I have also tired to prepare myself for possible questions that I may be asked…"Tell me about yourself?" "Why do you want to work in Youth Services?" "What are your strengths/weaknesses?" and I feel that I am pretty prepared. I don’t want to sound rehearsed but I do want to sound like I prepared and planned for the interview.

Also, I already have a job in a hotel that I’d want to balance around my job at KFC. As my current job is pretty flexible I’d be able to give KFC priority most of the time so it shouldn’t really be an issue, I’d just tell my current boss when I can and can’t work, but should I explain this at my KFC interview or not mention it?
the hotel I work in is a very small, family-run business. When I’m working there I always start at 9am and depending on how many rooms need cleaning, I’ll work minimum until 11am and the longest I’ve ever worked is until 3pm, but it just depends on how much there is to do and how fast I work. But they’ve always been really flexible with giving me time off.

i put that i’m an honour roll student, and that i achieved top level for a province-wide exam (similar to SATs). am i expected to bring my report card/transcript/certificate? the exam results was never formalized on paper. am i expected to have proof of that too?

also, i put on my resume that references will be available upon request.
it just occured to me i don’t really have references as i’ve lost touch with them. am i expected to bring a reference list? will i lose points showng up without? i mean, she didn’t ask and i’m really hoping it’s not all that important.

quite frankly, i’m not sure if i’m just over-worrying. logically speaking, expectations for a burger joint applicants shouldn’t be that high, considering it’s the lowet level job out there, right? but in this job economy, everyone’s scrambling for a job so i guess i might have competition. i’m just desperate for a job and i really can’t afford to NOT be hired. any thoughts?
